Turok Action Figure Museum
Ahahaha!! It’s finally here! The Turok Action Figure section of the Turok Museum! I might as well start with some history, before we look at the released action figures for the Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and the Turok 2: Seeds of Evil video games! Let’s get right into it!
Special thanks goes to operative lm for researching the history behind these action figures over the years, even before the remasters were released. Without him this article wouldn’t exist.

The wheels for the production of the Turok action figures started spinning on June 25th, 1997, when Acclaim Entertainment and Golden Books Family Entertainment (who owned the Gold Key subsidiary), made a deal with Playmates Toys, Inc. to make Turok toys (was not specifically announced to be action figures, but it can be assumed since Playmates specializes in action figures and dolls).
Now think about the events taking place during this time. The British signed over Hong Kong to China, the first “Harry Potter” book is published, and “Batman and Robin” premieres in theaters: all these events are overshadowed by Turok’s popularity and glow!

And thus, coinciding with the release dates of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, the action figures were finally released in 1998!!!
But before we show the completed figures, how exactly were they made? Surprisingly enough, we have a wide selection of screenshots different stages of the action figure production. The ‘How It’s Made’ video below is actually a pretty accurate representation of what the process consists of:

Interesting, huh? Now, knowing how the process is like, we can piece together the first images of these timeless figures.
Just like the video I showed above, it all starts with an idea, a reference drawing on paper, and some clay. These photos are basically the first images of the Raptor and Joshua set. You can see that it’s based on the famous Turok: Dinosaur Hunter promotional image.
And here we are seeing the first iterations of some of the single pack figures, as well as some of the rider figures. One thing of note is the mech trex (possibly Thunder). It never saw mass production.
Oh would you look at this! The single packs consisting of Joshua, Adon, and the Primagen are sculpted to near completion!
With the riders finalized and ready to be painted, this gallery contains prototypes showing how each of the riders can be fitted to a dinosaur. You do see something out of place (if you already know all the toys that were released), that being the presence of the Campaigner. Interestingly enough, for some reason he would never enter mass production. It can be determined that the unreleased mecha trex was supposed to have the Campaigner as it’s rider.
Here we see unpainted prototypes of the single pack weapons for Joshua, Adon, and the Primagen, including the stands that came with them (for the figures to stand on).
With the figures finally painted, they are ready to hit shelves! =)
Finally we have a showcase of final release figures. A good bunch of these figures were not put into mass production, it most likely was up to the marketing team to decide which ones were released or not.
Now, for the past 3 years, I (Badger) had been slowly collecting the entire series of action figures!
I finally have them all!
I took photos of all sides of the boxes and even brought them outside for some decent shots!
I may sometime in the future take better pictures of the boxes, but I believe this is satisfactory for now.
